Holi-Date Dressing

Holiday outfit: reindeer blouse, skirt & ankle booties

The holiday season holds much magic for me and my husband. Nick loves Christmas more than any person I know, and that’s saying a lot because I grew up with the last name Clause. Nick and I also happened to meet just a few days before Christmas. Six years ago, he was home on military leave, and to celebrate, his parents treated him and a couple friends to dinner at Alexander’s Steakhouse. His best friend invited me along, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In honor of that first dinner, Nick and I go back to the restaurant every year right before Christmas. This time, we changed it up a bit and went to Alexander’s newest spot, The Sea. To feel festive, I wore this reindeer-printed blouse—the leather trim on the sleeves and collar make it more chic than cheesy—and a skirt, per Nick’s request (Nick would like me to note that he did not request the tights, but it was too cold for bare legs). This year, a highlight of our special Christmas date was a certain beverage. One of the restaurant’s signature cocktails is called The Ralston, which is now my married last name. We took that as a sign that it was all meant to be.
