Trying the Trend: Cut-Out Dress

Spring trend: cutout dress

On Saturday, I turned 30. I’ll admit that I wasn’t too excited about this birthday—do I have to be a grown-up now?—until I found this floral cut-out dress. There’s something about showing a little skin that makes me feel ready to party (cue Kristen Wiig). Maybe it’s because I went through college with an exposed midriff. Thanks to subtle side cuts, the look feels more sophisticated and less sophomore year. I went with a chunky heel—I love how the straps echo the dress’ black trim—and debuted my new onyx necklace, a birthday gift from my husband. Oh, and when I said party? I meant enjoy a nice chardonnay at a fancy restaurant. I guess 30 isn’t so bad, after all.

  2. Would it be awkward if I asked you what size "we" wear in this dress so I can buy it?

    1. We're a S! You can borrow anytime! But, if you get your own, we can be twins in Pismo!

  4. You are absolutely stunning my sweet friend. And youve got amazing style. love you.
Ive always thought 30s would be the best decade, your more wise and more health focused then in your 20s. More gracefully beautiful, yet young enough to enjoy everything still. ANNnnd its the perfect decade to bring new life into the world, you realize theres more important things then youve ever known before.
You are pretty fantastic and ive thought so for 30 years. x

    1. Thank you for the sweet note, Holly! Such beautiful words. You've made me feel so much better about entering this decade. You're so right. We are still young, but so much wiser than we were in our twenties. Also, if my mom could figure out how to leave a comment, she would agree about bringing new life into the world ;) Here's to an exciting new decade!

P.S. I've been thinking that you're pretty fantastic for these last 30 years, too :)

    1. Don't hate me -- it's actually one that Nick picked out himself. It's a really bright, bubblegum pink, but you can't tell as much in the pics. It's YSL Rouge Pur Couture #27 (they didn't have it at Sephora during our epic shopping session). Don't worry though -- #7 Le Fuchsia is definitely my fave. I'm wearing it right now actually!
