In preparation for fall, I’ve been doing some fashion recon. So far, I’ve spotted a whole lot of camo. Since my husband Nick sometimes wears camo to work (for, like, actual camouflage), I asked him, does the military think it’s weird when regular folks put on the functional print for fun? According to Nick, it’s okay to steal style ideas from the service. “We’re actually trendsetters,” he claims. “Aviators, bomber jackets, camo—we were doing these things two wars before they were cool.” So there you have it. Anyone can cover up in camo.
Here are two ways to try the military-inspired trend. I started with black skinnies and a white tee, then added a touch of camo with these Toms. If you’re unconvinced about camo, your kicks are an easy place to start.
For look number two, I upped my camo coverage, switching out my Toms for booties and putting on this fatigue jacket.
I’m now totally hooked on this versatile print—much like leopard or cheetah, it can act as a statement piece or a neutral—which leads to my next question, can you have too much camo? My husband’s closet suggests no, so here’s more camo to consider…

Deletea) you look stunning and these photos are great! b) loving the camo trend and both ways you styled it! I don't want to spend a ton of money on this trend since my budget is shot right now, but I'm wanting to pick up a pair of flats or a tee hopefully!

DeleteI'm loving the camo trend. An old boyfriend of mine wasn't too keen on us regular folk rocking it. Maybe the sentiment differs by branch? He left behind a pair of ACU cut-offs and an old ERDL jacket. I'm tailoring them to fit. Because free.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving camo. All camo. I secretly have a thing for Real Tree. An old boyfriend of mine was none too happy about us regular folk getting in on the action. Maybe the sentiment varies by branch? I'm repurposing his ACU cut-offs. Because shorts... and free.
