How to Pick the Perfect Independence Day Outfit

Fourth of July style

With the Fourth of July around the corner, I figured I’d share a few tips for putting together a festive, fireworks-worthy ensemble.

1. Now’s the time to show your patriotic colors. Shop your closet for stars, stripes, and anything red, white, or blue. Don’t forget your makeup drawer. Paired with blue-and-white attire, a red lip completes the all-American color trio.

2. So your outfit is more charming than cheesy, add an accent color that can’t be found on the flag. Metallics pair especially well with star-spangled looks.

3. Remember that fireworks don’t happen until it’s dark, and likely chilly, and if you don’t want to annoy your husband/boyfriend/cute boy who you just met by stealing his sweatshirt, pack a jacket.

4. Celebrate your freedom to wear whatever the heck you want and disregard these tips.

Bonus tip: If you have an American bulldog, include that patriotic pup in all festivities! Okay, include your dog no matter what.
